Turkey/Russia arms deal: What can NATO do?
Turkish relations with Russia are deepening, while its relations with the USA are deteriorating. What is the future of Turkey’s place in the NATO? What are the implications of recent developments for security and defence within NATO borders? Are we witnessing an end to Turkey’s place in the alliance? Dr Meral will offer reflections on the current context, underlying problems and offer some recommendations on how to contain risks and fall out. Dr Meral is a Senior Resident Fellow at the UK Army’s own think tank, CHACR, and a Senior Associate Fellow at RUSI, and often directly partakes in conversations on future of NATO and trends in defence, as well as long standing work on observing Turkish foreign policy and politics.
