The lecture will provide an overview of the various influences on the current UK Strategic Culture that are strongly connected to the use, or misuse, of historical precedent as their underlining rationale for existence. The main focus will be on economic, political and military power within the UK’s strategic culture matrix

Greg Kennedy is Professor of Strategic Foreign Policy, and the Director of the Corbett Centre for Maritime Policy Studies, at the Defence Studies Department, King’s College London, based at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Shrivenham. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta in 1998 and before coming to England in 2000 taught at the Royal Military College of Canada, in Kingston, Ontario. He is the author of the award winning monograph, Anglo-American Strategic Relations and the Far East, 1933-1939, (Frank Cass, 2002) and has published internationally on strategic foreign policy issues, maritime defence, disarmament, military education, diplomacy and intelligence.
