This talk takes a look at the tumultuous history of cryptography from the late 20th century to today.
It gives an introduction to cryptography as a State tool for secret communication and as a weapon of war, and its transition into a so-called dual-use technology. The talk concludes by exploring cryptographic algorithms from the perspective of civil resistance and asymmetric warfare.
Speaker: Andreas Tsamados
