We are pleased to announce another event of potential career-interest to life science students and early career scientists; Jessica Beagley is a science policy manager at the NCD Alliance, a charity involved in health science and chronic diseases policy research in developing countries. Jessica coordinates policy research and collates evidence to inform NCD Alliance’s advocacy priorities. She manages commissioned policy research and leads NCDA’s work on environmental health, in particular relating to urbanisation and climate change, and public health in developing countries – ranging from tobacco taxation to fighting air pollution to trying to ensure access to medicines for people that need them most but cannot afford them. Prior to joining the NCD Alliance in 2014, Jessica worked with the International Diabetes Federation in Brussels, Belgium on health education and epidemiology. She has a degree in physiology from the University of Oxford and is excited to meet the Oxford Pharmacology Society and relate her experience as a scientist-by-training to a career in public health science policy. We will also learn about health science policy and the works of it, with a focus on the impact of the NCD Alliance.
Open to all students and early career scientists. A reception will follow. To keep updated about career and scientific events in STEM, join our society by visiting www.opharmsoc.co.uk.
