Building Bridges in Science: A Journey Inspired by Dorothy Hodgkin’s Legacy. This lecture commemorates 80 years since Dorothy Hodgkin’s groundbreaking determination of Penicillin’s structure.

Dr. Abuhammad is a Jordanian structural biologist dedicated to advancing global health through groundbreaking research in structural biology, drug discovery, and medicinal chemistry. After completing her PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Oxford, she established the first protein crystallography and structural biology initiatives in Jordan, forging dynamic collaborations to overcome regional resource limitations. As an accomplished mentor and leader, Dr. Abuhammad has secured competitive grants, spearheaded international partnerships, and inspired the next generation of scientists. Her work has earned prestigious accolades, including the L’Oréal-UNESCO International Rising Talent Award and the Suffrage Science Award, underscoring her role as a champion for women in STEM. Recently, she was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship at the University of Bristol, where she is expanding her expertise in cryo-electron microscopy to address urgent healthcare challenges. Dr. Abuhammad’s journey reflects a steadfast commitment to advancing science, fostering innovation, and honoring the legacy of Dorothy Hodgkin.
