'European Climate Leadership and COP21: Assessing EU Relations With China And India'
The contours of global climate politics are shifting. Negotiations in the run-up to December’s Paris climate conference are characterized by an unusual alignment of players. The US and China embraced climate action through bilateral agreement. The EU is pushing for an ambitious Paris agreement. India has recently come forward with its 2030 pledge.
At this talk Dr. Diarmuid Torney will present the findings of his new book, European Climate Leadership in Question: Policies toward China and India (MIT Press, 2015). The first systematic assessment of Europe’s claim to climate leadership, the book analyzes EU engagement with China and India on climate change.
Diarmuid Torney is a recent D.Phil. graduate from the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, and his book is a revised version of his thesis.
