Scientific publishing aims to disseminate knowledge within and between scientific communities, with the most influential research impacting beyond field-specific experts. To avoid misinformation, there is a responsibility to balance rapid access to cutting-edge findings with ensuring that published data are robust, reproducible and substantiate the conclusions that are made. In my talk, I will outline the process a manuscript undergoes at Science, from submission to publication, the role of the professional editor and what editors look for when considering papers. Moreover, I will highlight initiatives at the journal that are aimed towards maintaining integrity and precision whilst building the scientific record.
