An introduction to metabolomics: Investigating cellular function and determining novel drug targets for disease
James McCullagh is Professor of Biological Chemistry and Director of the Mass Spectrometry Research Facility in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford. He is a Group Leader with a focus on understanding small molecule chemistry in complex cellular and metabolic processes.
Research in the McCullagh Group utilises a range of bioanalytical techniques, in particular mass spectrometry, to perform metabolomics experiments to elucidate biomarkers, investigate new disease targets, determine chemical mechanisms, investigate early detection of disease and perform pharmacometabolomic studies.
