Autoimmune connective tissue diseases - intracellular DNA/RNA sensing
Autoimmune connective tissue diseases are associated with autoantibodies towards intracellular antigens. The potential immunopathogenic role for these autoantibodies remain elusive.
Although autoimmune connective tissue diseases have a specific clinical presentation, there is a huge overlap in both symptoms and clinical findings between the diseases. Our lack of knowledge has led to a high unmet need for better treatment options. Our focus for these diseases is how autoantibodies get in contact with their antigens and what this means for DNA and RNA intracellular sensing.
