Join us for a reflective conversation with Natalie and Siobhan that explores the lack of engagement in issues of race and racism within humanitarian photography ethics, and more generally in the context of international development NGO and research narratives.
Natalie Lartley is a communications expert, anti-racist, and changemaker, currently working with IIED and running her own non-profit organisation www.wood-water.org. She has developed narrative analysis tools and processes to explore new ways of tackling racism in development narratives.
Siobhan Warrington is a researcher, currently working with Newcastle University’s oral history unit. She led the People in the Pictures research for Save the Children and worked with Oxfam International and Bond in 2019 to produce their ethical content guidelines.
