Oxide Spintronics and Ethics in Scientific Research
Refreshments will be available from 3:30pm.
After a brief introduction on the science and relevance of our work on Oxide Spintronics, I will speak on my experience with Ethics in Scientific Research. I will discuss what constitutes research misconduct, best practices in scientific research and codes of conduct that are developed to help researchers understand their responsibilities. Topics such as publication practices, authorship and data safe keeping will be discussed along with some examples of research misconduct.
Biography: Professor Dr Tamalika Banerjee is the Chair of Spintronics of Functional Materials group at the Zernike Institute of Advanced Materials and a member of the CogniGron Centre at the University of Groningen. Her group studies emergent phenomena in quantum critical regions, exploiting strong correlation effects and topology in complex oxides, graphene and topological insulators. Their work is fundamental to the study and design of reconfigurable spintronics architecture relevant for alternative computing applications.
