Edward Mortimer CMG is a Distinguished Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, Senior Programme Adviser to the Salzburg Global Seminar, and was the first Chair of the Sri Lanka Campaign. He was, from 1998 to 2006, the chief speechwriter and the Director of Communications to the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan. He is an author, journalist, and fellow of All Souls College Oxford. He has spent much of his career as a journalist, first with The Times of London, where he developed an expertise in Middle East affairs, and later with the Financial Times.
