Everyone is welcome: members of the university, water and environmental professionals, and members of the public!
This evening seminar is jointly organised by the Oxford Water Network and CIWEM (Central Southern branch). The aim of the meeting is to provide short presentations on three aspects of climate change mitigation and adaptation to interested parties, and some time for Q&A.
*Alice Chautard, Environmental Change Institute – “1.5°: Meeting the Challenges of the Paris Agreement”
Alice will give an overview of what has happened after the COP21 Paris Agreement, and the challenges in trying to meet the stretching 1.5°C target.
*Matt Ives, Infrastructure Transitions Research Consortium – “Adapting infrastructure to climate change”
There will need to be significant changes to infrastructure planning to cope with climate change and Matt will summarize key aspects.
*Monica Zurek, SUSFANS – “How might climate change affect food systems?”
Monica will touch on the effects of climate change on land use and agriculture, and outline how Sustainable Intensification has emerged as one of the key strategies for dealing with the ‘monumental’ challenges facing the global food system.
