Professor Watkins uses animal models to study how some rare HIV-infected humans control replication of HIV, a finding that may provide insight into mechanisms for controlling the infection. Additionally, his laboratory (in collaboration with the Desrosiers, Kallas and Burton laboratories) is isolating neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against Dengue and Zika for prevention and treatment. Professor Watkins will talk about the Zika epidemic in Miami and his efforts to develop diagnostics and therapies for Zika.
