Climate and Health Forums: Climatic Extremes Impacts
In Michaelmas Term 2021 (October 2021) a series of Climate and Health Forums will bring together researchers for discussion under three broad thematic areas:
1. Disease Impacts: 9.30-11am Mon 18th October
2. Healthcare System Impacts: 9-11am Mon 25th October
3. Climatic Extremes Impacts: 9-11am Wed 27th October
Concluding on Wednesday 27th October, the final seminar is “Climate Extremes Impacts”, Co-chaired by Prof Myles Allen and Dr Neven Fučkar, including issues around climate extreme events and their predictability, climate shocks to agriculture and food systems (Dr John Ingram), humanitarian assistance (Dr Nicola Ranger, Head of Climate and Environmental Risk Research, Oxford Sustainable Finance Programme), water security (Dr Boccaletti), Smith School of Enterprise and Environment) and migration (Prof Michael Keith).
These forums will bring together researchers interested in the intersection of climate change and health, identify key areas of strength and future work, and facilitate novel collaborations and strengthening existing ones, especially in preparation for the new Climate and Health Pump-Priming Funding round currently open.
