Greece in the post-memoranda era: What next?
Please join us at the drinks reception in the Buttery (Hilda Besse Building) after the lecture
Since it erupted 10 years ago, the Greek economic crisis has been a painful experience for the country’s economy and society. Its depth, duration and intensity were unprecedented and far worse than the initial expectations of creditors, the experience of any other European country that received official financial support, or any other sovereign crisis in the developed world. As the country is moving into the post-memoranda phase, having just exited its third economic adjustment programme, it is now at a critical juncture. Our speaker Nikolaos Karamouzis, as Chairman of Eurobank Ergasias SA and Chairman of the Hellenic Bank Association was one of the principal economic players of the country with a unique contribution to the development and transformation of the Greek banking sector during the years of crisis. At the SEESOX Annual Lecture, he will speak about the lessons from the Greek crisis, the mistakes made, the obstacles and delays to reform and the prospects for the future.
