Carrie Gibson received her PhD from Cambridge in 2010 and her thesis examined the impact of the Haitian Revolution on the Hispanic Caribbean. Prior to that she worked for more than a decade as a journalist for the Guardian. Her publications include Empire’s Crossroads: A History of the Caribbean from Columbus to the Present Day (Pan Macmillan, 2014), and her current research concerns the Hispanic history of the US, the border, and cultural memory, and will be published by Grove Atlantic in the US in 2017.
