A regional Multidimensional Poverty Index for Latin America
This seminar introduces a new Multidimensional Poverty Index for Latin America (MPI-AL), developed by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). It responds to the need for a regionally relevant measure that goes beyond income-based indicators as well as the global measure for acute deprivations. The MPI-AL is grounded in human capabilities and rights, incorporates dimensions and indicators suited to Latin American contexts, and sets a poverty threshold requiring deprivations in more than one dimension. Join us to learn more about the challenges and lessons learned in the development of MPI-AL.
