Film Screening: Battleship Potemkin (Sergei Eisenstein) and Drifters (John Grierson): A Celebration of the Historic 1929 Screening by the Film Society
The final event of our ‘Britain and the Soviet Union: Early Cultural Encounters’ Network is a recreation of one of the most important events in the history of British film: the Film Society’s screening of Eisenstein’s Battleship Potemkin and John Grierson’s Drifters on 10 November 1929.
The screening will take place at the Ultimate Picture Palace. We’re delighted that it will be introduced by Professor Emma Widdis (University of Cambridge) and Professor Jo Fox (School of Advanced Study, University of London), who bring expertise in Eisenstein’s and Grierson’s work.
The programme will begin at 17:30 and finish at 20:30. The bar will be open from 17:00.
