On the Logics of Social Worlds: A Talk with Gabriel Tupinambá
In this talk, Brazilian psychoanalyst and philosopher Gabriel Tupinambá introduces a recent contribution of the research collective Subset of Theoretical Practice (www.theoreticalpractice.com), which combines Kōjin Karatani’s theory of modes of exchange and Alain Badiou’s theory of the logics of worlds in order to recast several categories of World-Systems Theory and Critical Theory in a broader and more formal conceptual setting. By introducing this new framework, Tupinambá hopes to further consolidate an approach that expands our conceptual vocabulary both for comparison between different social contexts as well as for discerning different dimensions and challenges within one sole social situation.
This event requires registration. Please register via Eventbrite, here. Registered attendees will receive a PDF of the working paper by the Subset of Theoretical Practice, which will form the basis of this conversation.
