Creating CVs and Application Materials for Academic Jobs: for Researchers
How can I make my job application stand out from the crowd? Whether it is for a postdoc, lectureship, or fellowship, a strong CV and supporting materials are vital to unlocking the next stage of the application process.
During this in-person workshop we will share examples to explore the key building blocks of a strong academic CV and cover letter, and utilise exercises on how best to present your skills and experience within your own application materials.
We will also provide a brief overview of structuring additional materials that can be required, including teaching and research statements, and demonstrate how the skills gained within this session can be applied to develop these.
This session will focus on application materials for academic positions only.
Workshop objectives:
Provide an overview of the desired skills and experience required for academic positions
Explore tools and exercises for identifying your existing skills and experience
Apply these insights to develop your current drafted CV and cover letter
Provide an overview of wider application materials, including teaching and research statements.
To get the most out of this workshop we strongly encourage you to look at the Academic Applications page of our website before you attend.
