The Real Terrorism Threat Facing the West and What to Do About It
Sara Kamali holds a doctorate in religious studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is a Visiting Academic at St Antony’s College. Her research focuses on religious violence as well as religious literacy and interfaith engagement. She is also the founder and executive director of ForgetMeNot International, a U.S.-based charity with a mission to educate and empower orphans worldwide. In this seminar, Dr Kamali will draw upon direct interviews with homegrown violent extremists in the West to present a comparative study of two major security threats currently facing the United States, Britain, and their Western allies: religious activists respectively motivated by their understanding of Christianity and Islam. The discussion will also address what to do about these troubling phenomena.
