From ‘meat-free Mondays’ to ‘Veganuary’, campaigners are increasingly citing climate change as a reason to cut animal products out of our diets. What is the future of our food, if we are to tackle climate change?

Agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change – but seemingly one of the most challenging to decarbonise. What needs to happen if we are to reduce the contribution of our food to climate change?

Dr Marco Springmann is the James Martin Fellow, Oxford Martin Programme on the Future of Food. His current research aims to assess the impacts of climate change, economic development and changing dietary habits on the global food system, and to analyse the effects of current and future policy approaches.
