You are what you eat - Metabolism drives genome evolution in parasitic microorganisms

Microbial parasites have evolved diverse metabolic strategies enabling colonisation of a broad host range. Through comparative genomics of both bacterial and eukaryotic parasites we reveal that parasite nutrition is a major driver of parasite genome evolution.
