Anthropological solace? Social analysis between understanding and caring in the COVID-19 crisis

Piero Vereni is associate professor at Roma Tor Vergata (where he teaches different courses in Cultural anthropology) and contract professor at the Roman campus of Trinity College (Hartford, Connecticut), where he teaches “Urban and Global Rome”.
He earned a PhD in cultural anthropology in 1998 at Sapienza University of Rome doing fieldwork among Greek Macedonians in Western Greek Macedonia (June 1995- February 1997). His other fieldwork abroad (1998-1999) was on the land boundary between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Kushal Sohal is pursuing an MSc in Modern South Asian Studies at St Antony’s College, University of Oxford. His research focuses on Indian educational philosophy, namely that of Rabindranath Tagore and M.K. Gandhi. Kushal is currently conducting research for Dr. Uma Pradhan on different South Asian educational thinkers and the educational narrative in modern Hindi cinema. Prior to coming to Oxford, he completed a BA in History from University College London (UCL), focusing on European political thought. While at UCL, he interned at the UCL Institute of Education and began a long-term interview-led project, ‘In Conversation with the Global’.
