Subnational Political Dynasties and Democracy in Latin America
Jacqueline Behrend is Leverhulme Visiting Professor at UCL. She is Professor of Comparative Politics at the School of Politics and Government of the Universidad Nacional de San Martin in Argentina, where she is also Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, and a tenured Research Fellow at CONICET. She holds a DPhil in Politics and an MPhil in Latin American Studies from the University of Oxford, and a BA in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires. Her research, which focuses on subnational comparative politics, has been published in numerous journals. She is the coeditor of Illiberal Practices: Democratic Variance within Large Federal Democracies with Laurence Whitehead (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2016), The Oxford Handbook of Education and Globalization with Paola Mattei, Xavier Dumay and Eric Mangez (OUP, 2023) and Mounting Pressures on the Rule of Law: Governability for Development and Democracy in Latin America with Laurence Whitehead (Routledge, forthcoming).
