The Life of Lady Kofoworola Ademola

“Girls have brains too”, These are the words of a small, strong, defiant woman who carved out a path for young women and girls to follow in and create their destiny. The talk will describe St Hugh’s alumna Kofoworola Ademola Moore’s (English 1932) life as the daughter of parents who were members of what could be regarded as African Yoruba elite; her determination to pursue a teaching career; and her rise to prominence as an advocate for women’s education and social reform.

The lecture, in Mordan Hall, will be preceded by the unveiling of a picture featuring Lady Adebola during the visit to St. Hugh’s College of Oba Alaiyeluwa Ademola in 1937 and a drinks reception, and will be followed by an audience Q and A session. All are welcome and the event is open to the public.
