Book Launch: Crude Capitalism: Oil, Corporate Power, and the Making of the World Market
Please join Dr. Adam Hanieh and moderator Dr Hashem Abushama, to discuss his new book, Crude Capitalism: Oil, Corporate Power, and the Making of the World Market. Hanieh traces oil’s central role in the rise of capitalism, exploring how corporate networks and state power embed fossil fuels deeply into modern life. Linking the environmental and political devastation caused by oil with struggles for decolonisation, his work calls for solidarity between the climate movement and the Palestinian liberation struggle, making a vital contribution to our understanding of global power and resistance.

This launch is co-hosted by the Ibrahim Lughod Centre for International Studies, Birzeit University and will be live-streamed in Arabic.
