The next session in DPIR’s Alumni Career Conversation series will focus on careers in policy analysis. It will take place virtually via Zoom on Wednesday 25 May, 13:00-14:30 GMT. The talk will be chaired and moderated by Jane Green, Professor of Political Science and British Politics at DPIR.
This series provides an opportunity for the DPIR community—current students, alumni and academics—to connect with a panel of DPIR alumni, learn about their career stories and benefit from their experience and advice. It features alumni speakers at varying stages of their careers and across a range of fields. Each speaker will speak about their career to date, and after their short introductions, the panel will discuss and respond to questions from the audience.
Our speakers include:
Anna E. Mackin (2007, DPhil Politics) – Research Manager, International Social Research at Ipsos UK. Anna specialises in quasi-experimental impact evaluations, mixed methods research designs, quantitative data analysis, and survey sampling. She has experience in conducting research and evaluation projects for a wide range of government and non-profit clients in the international development sector. Her recent projects include work for UNICEF, The British Council, and the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
Ulrike Franke (2012, DPhil International Relations) – Senior Policy Fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR). She leads ECFR’s Technology and European Power initiative. Her areas of focus include German and European security and defence, the future of warfare, and the impact of new technologies such as drones and artificial intelligence on geopolitics and warfare.
Taylor Grossman (2018, MPhil International Relations) – Taylor recently joined ETH Zurich as a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Security Studies, working on their Cyberdefense project. Prior to this, Taylor was a Senior Research Analyst and Project Manager in the Cyber Policy Initiative at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, where her work focused on capacity-building and financial inclusion. Her other research interests include cyber norm development, ethics of war, and bureaucratic politics in national security decision making.
