Stein Ringen, a Norwegian political scientist, is emeritus professor of Sociology and Social Policy at Green Templeton College.
He has published scholarly works on a range of topics from the Scandinavian welfare state to dictatorship in China. His government service includes posts as Head of Research in the Norwegian Ministry of Public Administration, Assistant Director General in the Norwegian Ministry of Justice, and he has also worked as a consultant to the United Nations.
His most recent book, The Perfect Dictatorship: China in the 21st Century, examines how China’s distinctive governmental system works and where it may be moving.
