Simon Akam is a British journalist and author. His first book, The Changing of the Guard – The British Army since 9/11, published in 2021, provides insight into the evolving role and relevance of that institution throughout the last two decades. It is a Times Literary Supplement book of the year and won the Templer First Book Prize. Simon’s writing has appeared in numerous publications on both sides of the Atlantic, including the New Yorker, the London Review of Books, the Economist, the Guardian, the New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Outside and GQ. He also co-hosts the writing podcast Always Take Notes. Simon can be found at @simonakam on Twitter.
