‘The potential for neuromodulation in the treatment of compulsive and addictive disorders.’
Chair: Professor Belinda Lennox, University of Oxford
Dr Voon is a Senior Principal Investigator, Neuropsychiatrist and Medical Research Council Senior Clinical Fellow with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge. Recently appointed a Distinguished Professor at Fudan University in Shanghai, she is the current president of the British Neuropsychiatry Association.
Why do we repeat behaviours that we know are bad for us? The Voon lab extends across Cambridge and Shanghai, focusing on understanding mechanisms underlying self-control and flexibility relevant to addictions and compulsive disorders. The lab is currently focused on identifying modifiable biomarkers for invasive and non-invasive neuromodulation. They use multiple modalities including imaging, physiology, pharmacological challenges, cognitive neuroscience and computational modelling approaches.
