Bodleian iSkills: Getting to grips with research impact for MPLS researchers
There are many ways currently being used to measure research impact. In this session you will explore some of the traditional metrics used to assess impact and also newer measures such as altmetrics. Subjects to be covered include: Understanding some of the different ways research impact can be measured and why; Understanding the uses and limitations of different traditional bibliometrics measures such as journal impact factor, researcher h-index; Introduction to altmetrics and alternative measures of research impact; Gain practical experience using a range of tools to find and explore different metrics.
