Translating research findings into health policy through dialogue
The DAC Trials hub is the public website for the Design, Analyze, Communicate (DAC) team from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The DAC team helps grantees optimize studies for informativeness and impact. The hub includes an evidence-based catalogue of best practice approaches to informative trials, assessments, open-source simulation software, and other tools for researchers. One of these is the Target Policy Profile (TPoP) tool.
In many cases, the end goal of clinical research is a change in policy, but there is often a gap between the research design and policy needs, which can lead to wasted money and time. To address this, the TPoP tool was developed to facilitate early and ongoing communication between researchers, policymakers as well as other global health stakeholders such as manufacturers and regulators, to name just two. Armed with this knowledge and these relationships, clinical researchers can maximize the likelihood that studies are informative and support the generation of optimal policies in an efficient way.
This webinar will introduce the TPoP tool and outline how it could be applied through a case study from Cameroon.
