The Poetry and Music of Science: Comparing Creativity in Science and Art

The Dunn School Graduate Student Association and Postdoc Association are proud to jointly host a new lecture in the Science Inside & Out series. This series provides an unusual perspective of science by addressing the role of the scientist beyond experiments in the lab.

This time we are honoured to host Professor Tom McLeish, a theoretical physicist and a professor of Natural Philosophy at the University of York. Professor McLeish is a successful author of several books about the philosophy of science. His latest book, The Poetry and Music of Science: Comparing Creativity in Science and Art, discusses the similarity between science and art and between scientists and artists. Most notably, how a scientist is as creative and imaginative as the artist.

The lecture will be held in the EPA seminar room on the 13th of March at 3PM and will be followed by a drinks reception in the combination room.
