‘Disability in a world of tradition: why valuing difference benefits everyone’I am delighted to be speaking at the WRH’s first diversity week, and I shall be talking on the topic of disability and the need to tackle ‘everyday ableism’ in conversations with disabled people. I shall outline some of my own experiences on in this area as a wheelchair user with cerebral palsy, and detail the evolution of my approach to disability and identity in recent years. I will conclude by emphasising the importance of developing ways of talking about disability which promote positivity, empowerment, and the valuing of difference for the benefit of all.
