In celebration of the one-year anniversary of the publication of the edited book, Mentoring Geography Teachers in the Secondary School, we bring together provocations on research with and for mentors.
Through the provocations, contributors to the event will address the themes of justice, agency and voice as they respond to the question: ‘How can research with and for mentors create possibilities for more just geographical futures in education?’
Following this Dr Katharine Burn (Associate Professor of Education, Department of Education, University of Oxford) will act as respondent.
The event will include provocations from:
Professor Clare Brooks – Professor of Education, IOE UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society
Emeritus Professor Simon Catling, Emeritus Professor of Education, Oxford Brookes University
Dr Ann Childs – Associate Professor of Science Education, Department of Education, University of Oxford
Professor Caroline Daly – Professor of Teacher Education, IOE UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society
Dr Lauren Hammond – Lecturer in Teacher Education, Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh and Honorary Lecturer, IOE UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society
Grace Healy – Education Director (Secondary), David Ross Education Trust
Sara-Anne Nichols – Second in Charge of Geography, Didcot Girls School, Oxfordshire
Dr Steve Puttick – Associate Professor in Teacher Education, Department of Education, University of Oxford
Dr Emma Rawlings Smith – Departmental Lecturer in Geography Education, Department of Education, University of Oxford
The event will have a strong focus on mentoring geography teachers, but we hope will be of interest to all those that are engaged with subject-specialist mentoring in education.
