The future of the US Republican Party: A Q&A with Pablo E. Carrillo
Why are elite Republicans—those who burnish longstanding establishment credentials—finding it so difficult to keep control of their party?
Pablo E. Carrillo, who served as Chief of Staff to the late US Senator John McCain, will discuss the ongoing conflict between ideological and instrumental conservatives in the US. He will speak about the future of the Republican Party in the context of the article ‘The key to understanding the implosion of US conservatism’, addressing the challenges faced by US House of Representatives Republican leader Kevin McCarthy in being elected as Speaker.
Palor E. Carrillo was responsible for the development and implementation of Senator McCain’s legislative strategy and for supporting the US Senate Armed Services Committee, which the senator chaired. Currently, Pablo leads the congressional oversight and China practice groups for the international law firm Squire Patton Boggs in Washington, DC.
This event will be moderated by Professor Karthik Ramanna.
