The Management in Medicine Shadowing Programme launch will take place on Monday 7 November at 18:45 via Zoom. The programme is competitive and priority will be given to those who attend the launch on 7 November.

The Management in Medicine Shadowing Programme provides medical students, doctors in training, postgraduate students and others with an interest in healthcare management, with an opportunity to shadow a senior manager in healthcare, or social services for approximately two half-days. The purpose of the shadowing is to give those working or interested in healthcare an insight into the activities of managers, how they go about those activities and the issues on which they work. The Shadowing is usually carried out over 2 half days, this can be in person or virtually or a mixture as agreed between you and your Manager.

We will send you the link to the Zoom meeting on the day of the event.

At this launch event, you will learn more about the Shadowing programme and have the opportunity to hear from previous shadows about their experience of the programme. Dr Hicks, will explain what is expected of you if you apply and are successful.

In early December, potential shadows will be sent a list of all the participating managers and their job title. Potential Shadows will then be invited to apply, stating their preferences for the shadowing placement based on the information provided. Demand from shadows can exceed the supply of managers, so priority will be given to those who attend this launch event. There are a limited number of places available and the application process will be competitive.

You can apply to take part in the shadowing programme whether or not you are following the FMLM accredited MiM pathway.
