Dr. Fudi Wang is currently serving as a Vice President of University of South China (USC), Dean of Hengyang Medical School at USC, and Qiushi Chair Professor at Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou, China. Dr. Wang holds several high-profile national honors, including National High-level Personnel of Special Support Program, National Distinguished Young Scientist from National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researcher. Dr. Wang’s research interests are mainly focused on elucidating molecular mechanisms of ferroptosis and iron metabolism. To date, he has published more than 190 articles (Citation 15 000, Cover papers 21, H-index 64) in peer-reviewed prestigious journals.

Ferroptosis is defined as an iron-dependent cell death with the characteristics of excess lipid peroxidation. In this fast-growing scientific research field, Dr. Wang is a well-recognized world-leading scientist who has made series of innovative and cutting-edge discoveries, particularly in the area of targeting ferroptosis in the liver and heart diseases. His lecture will cover his recent exciting discoveries of targeting iron metabolism and ferroptosis as potential therapeutic strategies for better managing a diverse spectrum of human disease.
