Water Resources, Water Quality and Future Changes

Refreshments from 17:30, for 18:00 start
Liz Coulson (Atkins & Severn Trent Water) will give an overview of the Chemical Investigation Programme 2. This is a national collaborative project between all wastewater companies and regulators in the UK. The outputs will influence future EU and UK chemicals policy.
Henry Leveson-Gower (Head of Abstraction Reform, Defra) will talk on Abstraction Reform and Water Resilience outside the Public Water Supply. There are significant changes ahead with regard to abstraction reform programme, and Henry will summarize the key aspects of change.
Andy Gill (Atkins) will talk on River Flows for Good Ecological Status: A Systematic Review to Support Water Abstraction Reform in England and Wales. This review assessed the evidence-base for effects of artificial flow alteration (e.g. abstraction, impoundment or discharge) on river biota. The conclusions will guide the future implementation of Environmental Flow Indicators (EFI) and shape water resource management.
