Silent Cinema and the Classics
Following an introduction by Pantelis Michelakis, two silent films – Purity (1916) and L’ Esclave de Phidias (1917) – will be screened with a live musical accompaniment by Stephen Horne (BFI house pianist and a leading silent film accompanist). The evening will conclude with a discussion led by Oliver Taplin with Sue Jones, Laura Marcus, Pantelis Michelakis, and Stephen Horne.
