St John’s College Arts Week’s Panel
St John’s College Arts Week’s Panel will be a unique opportunity to hear from an established artist, gallery director and magazine editor on pressing developments in the contemporary art world. Sarah Pickstone, Lizzie Collins and Lucinda Bredin will offer practical insights into what it’s like pursuing a career in the arts today. They will discuss the influence of social media and online platforms on the traditional artist/gallery dynamic and also consider potential strategies for improving outreach and access to young people.

Sarah Pickstone is a London-based, multiple award-winning artist who was the commended and winning recipient of the 2004 and 2012 John Moores Painting Prize. In 2004, Daunt Books published a book of her paintings and collected writings called Park Notes. She is an academic board member on the faculty of the Royal Drawing School.

Lucinda Bredin is the Global Director of Communications at Bonhams, overseeing their press departments in London, Hong Kong, the United States and Australia. She is the editor of the Bonhams Magazine, which she launched in 2005. She received an MA in the History and Theory of the Art Museum from the Courtauld Institute and has written for publications such as The Independent and other national publications.

Lizzie Collins is founder and director of the Oxford-based contemporary art Zuleika Gallery. She has over 20 years of experience in the commercial arts and was director and auctioneer at Bonhams and Christies. She is now the curator for the Saïd Business School where she developed a program of exhibitions about the emerging arts.
