MPPN - OPHI Side Event to the 53rd UN Statistical Commission: Using Multidimensional Poverty Data to Leave No One Behind
https://mppn.org/mppn-side-event-unsc-2022/
This year it is vital to measure and fight poverty in all its forms so that the most vulnerable populations find adequate support to build better lives and societies now and into the future. The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) continues to gain momentum as a powerful tool for tracking progress in pro-poor poverty reduction. In 2020-2021 ten countries launched official national MPIs while dozens more used or updated their MPIs. This work gains momentum by continual innovation and the frank sharing of experiences. In keeping with the 2022 UNSC theme of “Better Data, Better Lives”, this event will convene lead statisticians from over twelve countries to explain how they are updating and communicating national MPIs proactively in order to inform high-impact policies that end poverty and bring historic change.
