Roz Shafran has been a Trustee of the Charlie Waller Trust since 2011. She is Professor of Translational Psychology at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and an honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Her work involves the understanding and treatment of common mental health disorders across the age range. She has a particular interest in ‘transdiagnostic’ interventions for difficulties such as perfectionism. Roz studied Experimental Psychology at Oxford University, returning to work in the Department of Psychiatry from 1999-2007. She subsequently founded the Charlie Waller Institute of Evidenced-Based Psychological Treatment at the University of Reading to support the dissemination of effective interventions. She has over 200 peer reviewed publications and has authored self-help books based on cognitive-behaviour therapy. Roz is a patron of ‘No Panic’ and recipient of prizes such as the Positive Practice ‘Making a Difference’ Award, British Psychological Society Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in Practice, and Marsh Award for Mental Health for research that has made a difference to clinical practice.
