About
Medicine is taught in vignettes, and whilst this can definitely be helpful, experience teaches that there is no one way a patient with a specific condition presents. ‘Untold Stories in Healthcare’ is all about shedding light on experiences that don’t get discussed enough: whether it is stigmas and taboos, patients who don’t fit into the ‘classical’ symptomatology, or amplifying marginalised voices. Considering these, we will explore how our medical practice can change for the better.
Speakers
Our speakers will be drawing on their wealth of experience to discuss crucial neglected topics across the spectrum of healthcare, whether it be adolescent mental health, challenging sexism and gendered health stigmas, rare diseases that are overlooked, or even confronting our own professional dilemmas in a struggling healthcare system. The conference will feature a reflective workshop on changing medical practice for the better. Selected students will have the opportunity to present their research at the conference.
