This one hour course will give an introduction to the economics and policy evaluation in health. We would like to implement a new course for students, researchers and professionals on this topic. It would be great to have a mix of people who may or may not know health econometrics and health policy research for constructive feedback.
The course is structured like this:
- To understand what is meant by health economics and policy evaluation
- Provide definition and examples
- Understand the use of the data sources
- Provide information about the data sources used for health economics
- Data visualization
- Different methods used to evaluate health policy
- Econometrics models (OLS, 2SLS, quantile regression)
- Interpretation of the Outcomes (infant maternal outcomes, immigration and health, health care services) and possible policy implication
- To understand strategies to investigate the link between health and economic
- Provide examples of how to explore the health data with the economic theory
- Provide information about how health policy affect healthcare
- To understand strategies to investigate and quantify the effects of health policies
- Evaluate how demand and supply in health change according to the economic incentives
- Evaluate the distortion of health policy if the economic theory is not into account
