Building Platforms That Get NHS Data to All Who Need It, While Preserving Trust
Ben Goldacre leads the Bennett Institute, a large mixed team of software developers and researchers building tools that aim to make health data faster, easier, and safer to work with. OpenSAFELY.org is an analysis platform that has been granting researchers and NHS analysts access to 58m patients’ full structured GP records for analysis, with wide linkages, and the full support of privacy campaigners and professions. OpenPrescribing is a tool that lets any interested person examine prescribing behaviour at the level of individual practices, chemicals and brands. TrialsTrackeer is a suite of tools that monitor compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements to report clinical trial results. This seminar is focused on sharing how the tools were delivered; describing their capabilities; building new collaborations with potential platform users; and building new collaborations on data infrastructure projects.
