This postgraduate-led workshop is intended for second-year undergraduates considering a thesis topic relating to environmental or climate history, or any aspect of the natural world. The event is intended as an informal space where you will be able to hear about different approaches to this kind of work, talk through your ideas, and ask questions. Please feel free to attend even if you are at an early stage in thinking about the thesis, if your topic is only slightly ‘environmental’, or if you would like to write about environmental issues and are not sure how to work them into a viable topic with accessible sources.

Third-year students who have recently submitted a dissertation in this area will be on hand to share their experiences and advice, as well as PhD students who do environmentally-informed work. Amanda Power will also be present to answer any questions from a supervisor’s perspective.

There is also a fortnightly student-led forum on environmental history which brings together undergraduates, graduates, and postdoctoral researchers. Undergraduates writing dissertations with environmental concerns have been able to present to this group on their topics, and received valuable support and feedback.
