This is an open “Workshop” style meeting to evaluate the decision-making processes used in the UK for investment in flood risk reduction schemes, with an emphasis on option choices and standards of protection. The Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme is being taken as an example of the procedures being used in this country, to share with researchers from Spain, Portugal and Greece. In turn, similar procedures in other countries will be presented. This is part of a European project (FLODCBA2) funded by the Directive General Humanitarian and Civil Protection, to research and spread good practice around Europe concerning decision-making and investment efficiency. We would welcome attendance by those who are interested in decision-making in the water sector, and those concerned with hazard and risk reduction.
